On Saturday, May 18, 2024, Boston Art Review transformed a brand-new venue inside the Midway Artist Studios’ building into the art party of the year. We welcomed over 550 guests to celebrate the launch of Issue 12: Some Assembly Required and to kick off our annual benefit art sale.

During the VIP preview, we listened to tracks by Alfredo (Social Studies), snacked on bites by Buck & Bloom, and heard from our executive director Jameson Johnson and board member Danny Rivera. Guests were also treated to a magical performance by illusionist and performance artist Jeanette Andrews.

Sound equipment was provided by Sound Logic (hit them up for all your custom speaker needs!) When the dance floor opened at 8PM, guests moved downstairs to beats by Mx. Blaire (Boudoir). Next up, DJs Indiglo (SILK), RealP (SILK) and Mozes (AllYouCanEat), kept the dance floor alive all night long.

Projections were provided by Illuminus and Jim Manning, featuring work by Maria Finkelmeier, Ariel Grubb, Jack Gruman, Nelly Kate, Dirt Lux, Marcel Marcel, Janella Mele, Theadora Nedvins, Cesar Perez, Shey ‘Rí Acu’ Rivera Ríos, and Allison Tanenhaus. The immersive video sculpture under the stairs was created by Ravinda “D” Wibowo.

We’re so grateful to our partners at Pneuhaus for the inflatable sculptures/seating and Topo Chico for the photo booth.

Drinks were generously provided by Jorge Ordóñez Selections, Bully Boy, and Samuel Adams.

Artist and galleries who participated in the benefit art sale include: Clint Baclawski, Sarah Meyers Brent / Chase Young Gallery, Katarina Burin, Cicely Carew / art_works, Silvia López Chavez, Jamieson Edson, Maya Erdelyi, Tory Fair, Michelle Grabner / Drive-by Projects, Katrine Hildebrandt-Hussey, Lucy Kim, Napoleon Jones-Henderson, Yuri Shimojo, Crystalle Lacouture / Praise Shadows, Neeta Madahar / Anderson Yezerski Gallery, S. Billie Mandle, Alex McClay / Abigail Ogilvy Gallery, Jo Ann Rothschild, Sneha Shrestha (IMAGINE) / art_works, Gabriel Sosa, Joe Wardwell / LaMontagne Gallery, Yu-Wen Wu, and Michael Zachary.
